World Alone

Here is some thoughts in no particular order.

Some cities are mirages, “You have been walking for too long without any food or water, traveller. There is shapes contorting, ahead and all around you, they may or may not try to engage you, whatever you choose to do, avoid attacking them, they don’t know what they are doing any more than you. They may not even be real, just like you, just like me. Whatever the case, you are transpiring, your body is weakening, you look like you escaped a nuclear blast and are headed to another. There is a horrible sound making you crave for death, it degrades your humanity, torturing your every sense, each a long everlasting second.

Memories of inhabitants you have met, appear. They cannot touch you. They have never seen you. Not the way you ought to be seen, not the way you are seen. Do not blame them. Dettach. You have known since very little you have been deployed as a private from the Earth division. Time to go home.”

Some cities are safe havens, like Valletta is for me. Epochs of unwritten, unaccounted for history salute you as part of yet another day, imprints of countless faces that gave the city so much to behold did so with special permission. Sacrosanct cities with an effortless enigma. I see a masked individual with a long cape swaying in the wind, you get to play hide and seek with him. He will never speak a word nor reveal himself, but he may hold a mirror to you.

You wish to retrieve, don’t you? Disappear completely. Follow the mystery, jump through a portal into another Earth. You wonder how long it will take since you have been waiting for so long. Time is irrelevant to them, a torture only to you; time is a human problem. You will have to be surprised. One day, you will forget where you live and who you know, even those you love. One day you will be led accordingly to another Earth.
